i’m glad someone has finally uploaded a video on youtube about anosmia! unlike you, i’ve had it all my life, it’s called congenital anosmia instead of just anosmia.

While I am thrilled that this video was made and is being shown, I do hope that someday, someone makes a film about being a congenital anosmic, as it is a totally different experience. Kudos on a very nice video.

i too have congenital anosmia, and it would be interesting to see a video about that, instead of people who had smell, then lost it. still a great video though.

I lost my sense of smell after routine sinus surgery. As I was healing, the dr. downplayed my remarks that my sense of smell and taste were fading. 2 yrs later, I went to an expert at UCSD’s medical training hospital. He was angry when he saw what the surgeon had done to me. He explained that too much tissue had been removed. I’d never smell again. He gave me a hug and listed what I needed to do to be safe in a world without smell. I’ll never feel safe again in what is now a 2 dimensional world.

Meh, I agree that if it was focusing on congenital anosmics it would be better (I’m a congenital anosmic).

This question is not directly related to the video, but I can not find any information online. Can someone please please tell me if there is such thing as permanent single nostril anosmia. I have not been able to smell out of my left nostril for a very long time. I can’t say exactly, but it has been years. What do you think could have caused this? Any information is appreciated.

wow.. i never thought there is a name for this condition. i even thought i was the only one having this condition.. mine is congenital as well. wonder how its like to smell things..

This is an excellent, well filmed and well written documentary. Great soundtrack as well. What an interesting life…I may show this to my biology class.
